TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – Police are investigating after a man was shot while in his apartment bedroom.
The incident happened just after midnight Friday at the Callaway Apartments, 1141 W. 3900 South.
Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray said someone shot multiple rifle rounds through the wall and into the apartment.
The victim, a 26-year-old male, was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
Gray said the man went into surgery, and authorities have been unable to speak to him about who might be responsible for the shooting.
“We do not have any suspects at this time,” she said. “The only thing we have is some witnesses saw a black sedan leaving the area, but we are unsure if that sedan was involved.”
A K-9 unit was deployed to search for the perpetrator, and police are hoping more witnesses will come forward.
Authorities said the victim may have been targeted, but the investigation is still in its early stages. At this point, Gray said, there’s no indication the victim has any gang involvement.
A second shooting was reported in West Valley City later Friday morning, but it’s unclear if the two are related.
